The world has hidden from you what prayer is. Ask for your desires, or pray. Prayer is a conversation with God.
“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. They prefer to pray in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets to show others.” (Matthew 6: 5).
“When you pray, you must not speak as the Gentiles do. (Matthew 6: 7)
The Messiah taught us not to speak too much in prayer. There was a superstitious belief that the “rolling” process of prayer was pleasing to God. There is no point in repeating the same thing over and over again, believing that repetition of any particular prayer is pleasing. The Father knows your need before you ask. Prayer is the communion of man to God, the Creator and Father, not eloquent hymns.
The Messiah clearly commands: “Do not speak in prayer when you pray.” Prayers that are long, repetitive, superlative, and flattering, have nothing to do with what Christ taught.
Prayer has now become an industry. Thousands of prayer books are sold. The New New Prayers are printed as a book, given to the devotees, and they change the meaning of the prayer, saying it is a prayer.
