Tithing was part of God’s Law given to the ancient Israelites through Moses. The tribe of Levi did not own any land. Therefore, the Law was required to sustain them. The tithe was a condition of the Mosaic Law to maintain Israel’s temple and priesthood.
There is no need for tithe to Christians. The tithe was a provision in the Old Testament law. Tithing does not exist in the New Testament. The apostles did not ask for tithes.
The apostle Paul was willing to pay his own expenses, working part-time as a tentmaker. (Acts 18: 3) Paul could say with complete sincerity: “These hands have worked for the benefit of me and those who are with me.” – Acts 20:34.
Religions acquiring money in the form of tithes are the money that should reach the poor around us. Religion is a great economic power today. All this is money should reach the poor around us. If you pay for religions, you become involved in religious mafia, which in effect becomes a sin.
